Charlie Christian was born on this day, July 29, 1916, in Dallas, Texas. There is no question that Christian was one of the most important electric guitar players of all time. He was playing out-of-the-box solos as a 23 year-old while most guitarists were trying to figure out what to do with the pickup in a guitar.
